Rachel's HL Story

This all started shortly after the new year, I noticed a lump just below my right collar bone. It didn't hurt and it wasn't getting any bigger. But I kept an eye on it. Then over the weekend of July 27th I noticed a very sensitive lump in my right armpit which lead me to calling my regular Doctor for an appointment, on Thursday August 1st. She then referred me to Suburban Imaging that next day.
I was able to get any appointment with the Breast Center, of Suburban Imaging, on Friday afternoon. They first did an ultrasound and then decided it would be best to get a biopsy of the armpit lump. I waited 3 days for the results to come back. It felt like forever!! Then on Wednesday August 7th is when I got the worst news of my life that I tested positive for Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
I will never forget that Wednesday afternoon at work getting the call that would change my life forever! "Rachel, this is the Breast Center, are you at work? Yes. Okay, well I am afraid I have some bad news... your lump came back positive for Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Stunned didn't know what to say...shaking, scared, out of breath, worried, nervous, etc...everything flashing through my head about my husband, boys, family and friends. I was numb! Today I am in good spirits and still processing everything. Good news is that Hodgkins Lymphoma is treatable at every level. I will start chemotherapy Wednesday August 21st and will need to do at least 4 treatments. Praying for the best!!
My family appreciates all the love, support, prayers and words of encouragement. Please be praying that God is in control, that He will heal and protect me and let this be a stepping stone to grow in my faith. Have a blessed day!
