A Gift For Gabby
11 year old Gabby is fighting through her 2nd year of treatment of T cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Diagnosed at age 9, Gabby continues to receive chemotherapy daily, spinal taps every 3 months, and is monitored regularly by her doctors at the Cancer Center. As a result of the treatment used to battle against this cancer, one of the many side effects Gabby has acquired is steroid induced diabetes, resulting in insulin dependency. Her prescriptions (almost 172 pills a month), OTC medications, and special diet are not covered by insurance. Last months out of pocket medical totaled over $400.00, not including multiple trips back and forth to the hospital while her doctors watched closely as her body struggled to bring her ANC level up from 5. (The term “ANC,” which stands for “Absolute Neutrophil Count,” is the total number of neutrophils in a child's white blood cell count. ... The lower the ANC drops, the higher the risk of infection. When the ANC drops below 500, the risk of infection is high.) Gabby has been blessed to have her mother Holly by her side daily since diagnosis, yet this has minimized the family of 6's income tremendously. Holly tried to hold down part time employment once Gabby finished her first year of treatment, however she ran out of sick days taking off when necessary. Uncomfortable asking for any help financially, the family is behind on bills, and daily life expenses have accumulated and been neglected. My hope is that those who can, will please consider a donation in any amount. NOTHING IS TOO SMALL. Together our community can help this LOCAL family. With school starting there is very minimal monies for clothes/supplies. This GoFundMe is being set up after an anonymous female dropped off money this past week, and said, "Do another GoFundMe, let others who want to come together and help you, help." Any donation is appreciated, and ALL of the money will go directly to the care of this family, and the continued treatment of Gabby.
