On July 10th, 2019 I found a stray chihuahua in the street on my way to work. I took him to the vet because he was skin and bones and he was completely covered in fleas and ticks. His nails were super long and you could tell he hadn't been taken care of in a very long time. We found no chip. He had no collar or tags. I got him all his vaccinations and got rid of the fleas and we checked his overall health. He needed to gain about 4lbs, desperately needs dental work, and needs to be neutered. He also has a fungal infection on his skin which we are giving him meds for and medicated bath wash, and a heart murmur which is also requiring medication. He also needs an ultrasound to check the heart murmur to make sure he's healthy enough to be put under anesthesia for the dental work and neutering. I decided to keep him that day but the bills are adding up. It's already cost me $600 for the last 2 vet appointments. His next one is on the 26th for the ultrasound. That's going to be $350. The neutering and the dental will be almost $2000. I signed him up for pet insurance but it will only cover $200. I don't know how I'm supposed to afford it on my own. I'm not very good at asking for help but I really want this sweet pup to have a good life and currently you can see how painful it is for him to eat. Just wondering if anyone can help.
