In early 2019, Darlene was diagnosed with cancer. While dealing with doctors and insurance, the cancer spread. Darlene was still very confident that she would fight the cancer and was on track to start chemo. Early in the morning on August 8th, 2019, Darlene was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance for what initially appeared to be stroke symptoms. Sadly, as the day progressed, Darlene’s daughters (Caroline and Cori) were notified that it was not a stroke and that instead the cancer had eaten a hole in Darlene’s GI tract and subsequently her diaphragm was filled with air. At this point the doctors stated that there was nothing further that they could do and they gave Darlene a few days. Today (August 9th), Darlene will be transferred to the Hoffman house where she will live out her last days.
Anybody who knows Darlene… Whether you know her a lot or a little, know that she was always there for everyone. If Darlene had something you needed, it was yours. If she could help you out in a hard time, she would do it gladly with no second thought. Darlene was a second mom to me (and a second grandma to my son) and I cannot tell you how many times she has been there for me and helped me! Now it’s her needing the help. Her girls are about to face a very tragic time in their life and not only will they need help financially getting through this, they will need lots of prayer.
If you have ever had to plan for a funeral you know that it is not cheap. If you can spare anything to help Caroline and Cori lay Darlene to rest when the time comes, they would be forever grateful.
