Earthquake Relocation For Richmond Elementary

Richmond Elementary in Ridgecrest, California on Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake sustained too much damage during the earthquakes in July to reopen and the students and staff are being relocated to an older school (Vieweg Elementary) out in town. The teachers lost school supplies, classroom organization (bookshelves, cubbies etc) and equipment, some of which have to be replaced at their own cost. The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) of Richmond want to help by giving them $200 each to spend on their classrooms with the rest of the funds going by check to the school library, playground equipment and grass for the playground (it is currently just dirt everywhere). Due to the rules we are unable to take any playground structures from the old site to the new site. The PTO would like to get these funds to the educators as soon as possible! The funds are bring withdrawn directly by the PTO into their account and will be distributed as stated. School starts on the 19th of August. The grass will be planted later in the fall when temperatures have dropped and the grass can take hold easier. Thank you for helping our students and staff!!
