Westside Ronins rugby is a team that consists of a group of young local Seattle men who five years ago were considered Rejects or were not good enough to be recruited in a compatible rugby team in the city. However, these young men had the passion and love for the sport of rugby toppled with the talent they individual have and the determination that one day they will be able to compete with the big boys.We formed a team and named it “ Westside Ronins Rugby” which means, team going to fight without a master. We didn’t even have proper uniforms to begin with but that didn’t dampen our spirit as we went out season in and season out playing our hearts out with the goal to win. After a couple of years of playing socially we realized that we were no longer push overs and it was time to upgrade and rub shoulders with the big boys. We officially formed and registered the team with USA Rugby. We fund raised by selling food, car washes and walkathon just to be able to buy our first set of Jerseys. After some great performance over the years, some small businesses in the area heard about the team and were gracious enough to provide some financial support to enable us to stay competitive in the sport we love.Last weekend we went down to San Francisco to the Regional 7s Rugby Championship, competing with the best teams in the region who consists of some professional players. These teams recruited players from other cities and states. We went in to compete with a team that’s driven with a strong bond, flavored with family and love. The amazing news is that we won the whole tournament and became the #1 seed going to the Nationals Championship ‪on 8/10 -8/11‬ which will be held in Kansas City.In view of our limited resources and financial position we are therefore reaching out and humbly pleading for any sort of assistance that will enable these young determine men fulfill their dream in competing at the Nationals Championship.
