Jay Miller’s Traumatic Brain Injury Fund~JayStrong

It’s been 70 days since Lisa and Ryan Miller of Elkhart, IN. got that call in the middle of the night that no parent wants: their son Jaysen was in a terrible motorcycle accident in Lake Worth, Florida. Jaysen was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach, due to the severity of his traumatic brain injury.Jaysen was in a medically induced coma and there was little chance he’d survive. By the Grace of God he has! However, Jaysen can’t even understand why he is in the hospital or what has happened. Ryan has been down there most of the summer and needs to return to work. Lisa, will remain down there. They are waiting for the insurance approval to have Jaysen admitted into one of the best traumatic brain injury centers in Florida; which happens to be close to the hospital he is in. He’s not stable enough to come back home. The rehab is a group home that will aid in his recovery and will make sure he gets back to his best life. They only house traumatic brain injury patients, so this is exactly what he needs. However, Lisa will need to stay with him and care for him because he cannot be left alone. Lisa has been a teacher in our community for 20 years. She cannot not go back to school for at least the first semester, probably in reality for the year. She waswas planning on getting a counselor’s job in Florida. That was until she found out she would have to RESIGN...AFTER 20 YEARS of service (not just take a leave of absence) to work for a school down there. Lisa then would lose their insurance AND her pension, etc. We hope to raise at least $30,000. This is for Ryan’s lost wages this summer, for Lisa’s living expenses since she isn’t able to return to teaching right now, future therapy nursing care for Jaysen, as well as insurance premiums they MUST pay in order to keep her insurance! To add to everything, sadly, Lisa’s mom passed away only TEN days before Jay’s accident. So now Lisa and Ryan’s younger daughter is trying to take care of Lisa’s dad as well. We are trying to share this around the world. Thank you! Updates will be kept up! God Bless and remain #JayStrong~Heather (a friend of the Miller’s for decades!)
