Iwa Pele - A Documentary About IFA

Hello and thank you for clicking on this link!
As most of you know, I am a passionate film maker and have decided to produce and direct my first documentary. My film will be based on IFA and African religions and will show all the beautiful aspects of this faith. I have the intentions of changing the bad stereotypes associated with with any sort of African spiritualism through my story of tracing our roots down to the motherland. The film will consist of informative interviews with different Arabas, priests, and others with high titles in the culture of Yorubaland mixed with beautiful scenery of ceremonies and festivities from Nigeria and around Africa. I have already started filming in Miami and I am now ready to travel with Araba Ifatokun Awolola to Lagos, Nigeria and visit these shrines and temples where so much history and knowledge still remain. I want to document all of this and give people the real story as told by the Yoruba people themselves.
The story starts here in Miami with the Lucumi and Palo culture and then heads to Brazil to visit those in the Candomble faith. We will show how these traditions got there and how they relate to IFA and Africa. We will then go into Africa and learn more about where it all began and how it became so universal. Most documentaries that show any of this tend to be dark and evil, playing to the stereotype that the media has portrayed. It is always some sort of witchcraft or satanism they feed us! Being that I am an initiate myself, I plan on showing our traditions in the beautiful light it deserves. Awesome and informative interviews with high priests, Arabas (kings), and others with extensive knowledge due to their high ranks to help tell the story as close to the truth as can be. This is all possible thanks to Araba Ifatokun Awolola who has been traveling to Nigeria constantly for the past 20 years. He has had numerous initiations and received Orisas in the motherland and is respected highly in the religion all over the world. In essence he is my producer and with out his help and knowledge this wouldn’t even be possible. I plan to travel with him on his next trip and I need your help. There is no budget for this project, hence my GoFundMe for this movie.
I am not looking to make money, as all I want is to cover my costs of the trip.
I will be using all my own gear (camera, drone, lights and audio) and I will basically be a one man band. The $3,000 I am asking for will basically cover my flight, transportation and food while I am there for 10 days. As most of you know, I am a go getter and I will make this happen! Anything you donate helps and all will receive special thank you in the movie credits. Anyone who donates $500 or more will receive a special executive producer credit as well. I thank you for taking the time to help me in this project and look forward to sharing with you once completed. Please share!!
