MOLLY'S Bear Attack Surgery and Treatment

Donation protected
On July 25th, as I was walking out of a bike trail I am building in the Whistler area, my 9 year old dog Molly and I had a close encounter with an aggressive black bear. The bear charged us and managed to grab Molly by the neck, swinging her like a rag doll. I screamed and threw objects at them to try to break the scuffle, to no avail. The bear dragged Molly through thick forest where I couldn't see or hear them anymore. At this point I was thinking that Molly had not survived the brutal attack and I retreated to safety and called for help. I broke down thinking that I had lost my best friend when someone came screaming that there was a bloody dog higher up the hill. Molly had managed to free herself and instinctively ran back to my truck, she was beaten and bloody but she was alive! A few persons had gathered around and fortunately a first aid respondent was on the scene and was able to bandage her. We got in the truck and rushed her to a vet where she had emergency surgery. A few stressful hours later she emerged with many stiches around her neck and chest, both external and internal.  She suffered head trauma and major bruising all over her body. After the discharged from the clinic, We went back home to rest but Molly was breathing abnormally and squealing with pain so we decided to take her to Twin Trees after-hours where further care and supervision was provided. More pain meds were prescribed and administered and Molly managed to get a bit of sleep that night. Her condition is improving, she is eating and drinking but still can't stand on her own or support the weight of her head. Further treatment may be needed. We are heading back to the vet on the 29th for further possible treatment. The Vets are very optimistic that she will pull through with time and treatment. The amount for the surgery and subsequent treatment have already blown through the modest savings I had in case of emergency. Friends and family have already come forward with some funds but we are still short of the total amount. Whatever you can do to help, I can guarantee you that Molly and myself will be very grateful. (On a side note, to help raise money for Molly, I am offering photography services/photoshoot to whoever is in the Whistler area. I do all kinds of photography and I am willing to exchange my time for your help in supporting Molly, you can check out my online portfolio at www.stephanmalette.com and contact me via email at : [email redacted] to chat more if interested) Thanks to everyone who as show support to me and Molly in the last few days, you have no ideas how much it means to me to have great friends and family supporting us in this harder time. Thank you in advance, Steph and Molly.
