Taekwondo is my passion, and one day becoming a World Champion and an Olympian, has been my dream since I started competing at the age of 6.
2019 has been an incredible part of the journey to making my dream a reality. This year started with me winning gold at the US Open Taekwondo Championships in January, and then on to the Texas Open Championships in February, winning gold there as well. Next I competed in multiple state championships including New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Massachusetts winning gold at all of them. This propelled me to the #1 ranked position in the USA for the male Cadet, World Class black belt, -53kg division. I was named to the USA Cadet National Team and represented the USA at the 2019 Cadet and Junior Pan American Championships in Portland, Oregon in June, where I was successful again in making it to the top of the podium. I was also named by USA Taekwondo for the second year in a row, All-American athlete for 2019 being one of the top ranked fighters in America. This month of July, I won gold and became Cadet National Champion in the -53kg weight class at the 2019 AAU Taekwondo National Championships in Florida and qualified to compete in the AAU National Team Trials as well.
Over the past several months I have increased the intensity and frequency of my training and competition schedule, and am blessed to be working with an amazing coach and training partner all while maintaining my grades in school as an honor student. How do I do it? I have such tremendous support from my parents, sister, family and friends. You all are what fuel my excitement, passion, and belief in my potential not only in the sport of Taekwondo, but in life.
Now, I have earned a spot on the USA Cadet World Team!! I will once again represent Team USA at the2019 Cadet World Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on August 7th-10th. I am both thrilled and blessed to have this once in a lifetime opportunity! Unfortunately USAT does not fund its athletes at all for competition, travel, or training for these events. It is really important to me as a growing young athlete, to be involved and show responsibility to my family and peers by trying to raise any funding and sponsorship to help cover some of the exorbitant cost for my upcoming trip to Uzbekistan. I am graciously asking my friends, family and loved ones to help in any way possible by contributing on my GOFUNDME page, so I can continue on this path to fulfilling my dream of going to the world championships and hopefully winning for the USA! No amount is too small and 100% of the money raised will be used to cover my travel and competition expenses.
