10th Annual "Lakota Girls Math Camp "

Hello everyone, my name is Inila Wakan Janis. Administrator of a suicide prevention group known as "Santana House" and motivational speaker the past 10 years for a volunteer organization -Re-Member- serving the Lakota people on the Pine Ridge Indian reservation in South Dakota. My wife and I started the all Lakota girls math and culture camp 10 years ago to aid the Oglala Lakota tribe in enriching the lives of children at risk. This our 10th year marks a milestone in the lives of many girls who've attended camp. We proudly bore witness to an 8th grade and high school graduation class where a majority of our girl campers continued on and are now getting set for college. This being our 10th year we're hoping that with your support we can have a Lakota girls camp reunion and be able to bring back many of the girls who've attended the past decade of our camp. My wife is a Math teacher here on the Reservation. Together she and I begin the annual camp from our home ten years ago.  The funds raised will be drawn through our personal account and will be used to help fund transportation, food delivery for 30 plus campers,  stipends for peer counselors,  gift cards for young female campers, math manipulatives etc. and rental fees for the retreat center in the black hills where the camp is held (which we pay with a cashier's check.  We are not part of any organization nor a 501c3, nonprofit organization. We are a family living here on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation just doing our part to support and enrich the youth we serve.
