My name is Tom and I am currently deployed to Afghanistan. I have seen many homeless, sick, and starving dogs roaming the streets but when I saw a little puppy wondering around I knew that I couldn't let it end up like the others.
That day I brought that adorable puppy back to base with us. Lyla now lives with us on base and is such a huge morale boost for all of the soldiers. No matter how bad of a day we have, she can always put a smile on our faces.
Many of us are returning home to the US around march and we are concerned about what will happen with her. There is no way that I could possibly leave her here on her own to suffer, so I have taken it upon myself to take her home with me. It costs over $4000.00 to ship an animal from Afghanistan to a shelter, get vaccines while being quarantined, and then to ship to the US. There is no way that i could afford that on my own but hopefully with the help of GoFundMe, my family, and the other soldiers I will be able to make sure she lives a good life back in the states.
