Palliative Support for Ben Bozak and Family
Donation protected
**Update**
2 weeks have passed since my Dad broke his leg. Things where looking like we where going to get to bring him home however his condition took a turn. He is currently admitted in Palliative Care in Nanaimo.
He is no longer a candidate for radiation and will not be attending the Cancer clinic in Victoria. We have also been advised that a transfer back to Port Alberni would likely be too hard on my Dad.
All we can do is keep him comfortable and stay by his side. Every day we have with him is a gift and the time we have is growing shorter.
We are so incredibly thankful to everyone who has donated, visited, prayed and supported in the last couple of weeks.
Our stay in Nanaimo has been extended and we are currently searching for a short term rental as a more cost effective alternative to our current accommodations. Mid summer hotel, airBNB and restaurant food rates are no longer feasible.
As a family we stand together and ask all of you to keep sharing. Help us stay at my father's bedside, help us give him the comfort of his family during his final days. He has been through so much. We all have.

**Original Post**
As many of you know last month my Dad was diagnosed with advanced stage Cancer. The doctors advised us to enjoy the time we have as they believed it to be limited at best. This diagnosis has been devastating for us all, especially for my Mom and most of all for my Dad.
Last week the unthinkable happened. My Dad's femur bone in his right leg snapped under the weight of his own body due to compromised bone structure caused by the spread of the cancer. He was air lifted to Port Alberni and then transferred to Nanaimo for emergency orthopedic surgery.
The repair of his leg was a success however significant rehabilitation is required. Inevitably this will lengthen his hospital stay tremendously. With so much uncertainty in how fast his cancer is moving he is feeling robbed of the precious time he has. Yet another blow in an already incredibly unfair situation.
As you can all well imagine my Mom and I are moving heaven and earth to remain at his side. Leaving him alone, scared and in pain is just not an option. My Dad and I spent 4.5 months at my Mom's bedside after her aneurysms burst in 2016, largely impart to our friends, family and Bamfield as a community.
Once again with heavy hearts we are reaching out for support in ensuring this journey isn't one he has to navigate alone. Every little bit helps for those who are able and all the thoughts and prayers we can muster make a big difference too.
Keep us in your thoughts and prayers.
Lots of love the Bozak-Zannet clan
