Comics For James

Donation protected

Dear friends and family, acquaintances and strangers, Facebook/Instagram pals and fellow members of the comics community,

My brother James was recently diagnosed with tongue cancer. This diagnosis was a huge shock to my family and no one could have possibly seen it coming, most of all James. My brother has been strong, and is a true fighter, but he is also on a rollercoaster of emotions.

James just had his second pre-op surgery consultation and will be having surgery, July 9th, to remove the tumor that has grown on his tongue. He will have to be in the hospital recuperating for 7 days, and for months afterwards.

So that got me to thinking... What will he do in the hospital? How will he pass the time? What can he do while recovering at home? And then it hit me- COMICS! James and I have been collecting comics since we were kids, and we recently began collecting again with our shared comic collection.

James loves comics. He loves getting them at our friendly neighborhood local comic shops every Wednesday for new comic book day without fail. He also loves ordering comics online, scoring them off the internet or eBay, and getting them in the mail. He capital "L" LOVES comics and I can picture no better time for him than passing the time with a stack of comic books and flipping through them.

That said, I am looking towards anyone and everyone in my network of friends and family, as well as the comicbook community at large to help out if possible with project: Comics for James. If you've got comics that you no longer want anymore- Feel free to send them to James. You've got doubles of issues lying around? Send them to James. These can be older comics or newer ones. Mainstream comics or Independent comix. Any book donated will be equally loved and lovingly read, regardless of it's condition. This will be a chance to show my brother that there is still great kind-hearted people out there, especially within the comic book community, who care and will show their support to a fellow comic lover in his time of need.

You may send comics to:
James Janovsky

Don't have comics, but you'd still like to contribute? We are asking for $50 so that I can hit up our local comic shops for him and buy him a BIG stack of comic books! Any amount will help us reach our goal. $1, $5, $10, etc.

Don't have any money $$$, but you'd still like to help us out? Help us by spreading the word, sharing links to this GoFundMe comic book drive on all social medias you are on. Show this to your friends in the comics community, your own local comic shop clerks, people who work in the comics industry, independent comic creators, and more. Pass it along.

James and I plan on donating the comics we've got left over to kids/teens/adults in hospitals and someday begin a comics charity foundation for sick children called, "Comics For James".

If you have any questions, please feel free to PM/DM/e-mail me at [email redacted]. You may also find James and I on Instagram at @off_da_wall_comics where we showcase and share pics of our shared comic collection almost daily.
