“Your life can change in an instant.”Tuesday night, June 25, I received a phone call around 9 PM through my Facebook messenger app. Josh, my Uncle TD‘s stepson, was calling me. I have only met Josh once and for him to be calling me I knew something wasn’t right. I had a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach and answered the phone. When I answered, Josh on the other line telling me my Uncle TD and Melissa, Josh’s mom, had been in a horrific car accident. The police told Josh to call the family and let them know what had happened. My uncle was the victim of a high speed chase gone wrong! While my uncle was on his way to get his stepson from work a police car chased a stolen truck into traffic, hitting him head on, plowing into my uncle’s car. TD and Melissa were in critical condition. My uncle and his wife had to be cut out of his car by First Responders using the “jaws of life” and then air lifted to two separate hospitals. Melissa’s injuries upon arrival to the hospital included; a ruptured spleen, fractured clavicle, broken femur, fractured arms, wrists, hand and fingers.TD was flown into a hospital close to his wife and what would be to follow has been unimaginable. Upon arrival to the hospital his injuries included deep lacerations to his head, mouth and chin, a broken jaw, a fractured neck, a fractured back, dislocated hip and fractured hip socket, a collapsed lung, broken ribs, dislocated shoulder, fractured elbow, fractured wrist with tendon laceration. My uncle was intubated in ICU for about a week and a half while the surgeons performed multiple surgeries. He will need many more surgeries before he is able to be released to a rehab facility and then be able to go home and rebuild his life. TD and Melissa’s hospital, rehab, legal and just everyday life bills will be adding up quickly. My sister, Sara and I would like to help alleviate some of that stress for them and provide them with as much financial assistance as we are able to receive through generous donations. If you are able or willing to donate even as much as $5 every amount will help us get him back onto his feet while they both have been fighting to get better and also while they are missing so much work to recover. Thank you for taking the time to read this and please share this GoFundMe. ❤️
