Hi to all my Facebook friends, this is Jason Kelley. I am sure most of you and my Facebook friends know that for the last 3 ½ years, I have been working at the Corpus Christi Country Club as the golf course Superintendent.
During my time at the Club, I met one of the workers in the Golf Shop. Over a period of time we became very close friends. We developed a bond that is very special to me. His name is Randy Larson. We have shared much together through these past years. I would now like to share with all of you his current situation. He and I have spoken, and he is willing to have me tell you all his tough medical diagnosis. My very good friend recently found out that he has ALS. Some of you may have heard of this. Let me tell you there is no cure for it at this time. He is one of the more cheerful fellows I have met. He's always been the giving type and he is always willing to go the extra mile to help others. It has been laid on my heart to help him in any way I can. So, I want to start a GoFundMe account for him. We are going through CaringBridge.org and GoFundMe to help this brother out. I also would like to share a bit more of his story. Here are his words.
My name is Randy Larson. I have been recently diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) or Lou Gehrig's disease. I'm currently undergoing a lot of therapy. Speech. Occupational. Physical. I'm also going to Houston every 3 months for a clinic. They are very good and very supportive. They are monitoring several things. I can not loose weight. That will speed up the disease. I have nueropothy in both feet. My arms and legs and tongue twitch. I've lost dexterity in my fingers. My arms and legs have atrophy. They have brought in a breathing machine to expand my lung capacity. The worry is of course pneumonia. My breathing test had me at 44%. If I go below 30% no one can operated on me if needed. So we are going to have a feeding tube put in now, before I need it, while I'm strong enough. I have good support from family and friends. I love Jesus. He is my Rock. I trust in His plan. I have always been healthy and the one that helps others. Now my world has been turned upside down and I now need the help. We are planning for the future and have been told what to expect. We will need leg braces to prevent falling (Drop Foot). We will need a motorized chair. A van with a lift for the chair. We were told that the expenses can really add up. Some of the bills are coming in. I'm very humbled for any kind of help that would come our way. My heart and prayers are faithfully yours. Thank you for considering a donation.
