As some of you may know, Caleb Doney and his girlfriend were in a tragic accident in the Bay Area on Monday June 17th. Fortunately, they both survived. Caleb’s girlfriend was treated and released from a Bay Area hospital. Caleb was taken to a hospital in Santa Rosa where his mother and step-father Jenny and Jake Scheele and father Ben met him. Due to the seriousness of his injuries, Caleb was transferred to Stanford Memorial Hospital last night in Palo Alto. Caleb sustained major head and facial injuries which will require surgery as soon as doctors determine it to be appropriate. He has a broken foot, two spinal fractures and is still being evaluated. Doctors have indicated the spinal fractures will heal. At this point, Caleb requires specialized care which is unfortunately hours away from Chico. Upon his return home, he will require 24 hr care, Physical and Occupational Therapy as well as eye and dental care. Caleb’s mother, Jenny Scheele has had to take a leave of absence from her job at Italian Cottage in Chico so she can be by Caleb’s side. As Caleb’s recovery begins, medical bills, travel to Palo Alto, lodging and a loss of income will create quite a financial strain on Jenny and her family. I hope with this Go Fund Me, we can lessen the burden that is being placed on Jenny and her family (Jake, Grace and Abe) and allow them to focus on Caleb and his recovery. Caleb is currently at Stanford Memorial Hospital with his mother, Jenny Scheele and father, Ben Doney by his side.
