Ed DePalma’s Cancer Treatment

My father Ed DePalma was just recently diagnosed with throat cancer. This has been devastating news to all of us and we are willing to do whatever it takes to make sure that he makes it though this. We can’t imagine our lives without him. He is an amazing father,son, grandfather, boyfriend, uncle and brother. He is the smartest man I know and I look up to him more than he would ever know. I want him to watch my daughter and my niece grow up and create many more amazing memory’s with them. This is probably the most shocking real news my family has ever dealt with, you see it all around you but you don’t understand the magnitude of the situation until it hits home, and it’s hit home. Over the next 6 months or so my father with under go many rounds of chemotherapy and be on special diets due to the radiation to his throat and lots of medications all in which are very costly. My father has insurance but it’s not good in this situation. He has high co-pays and has to pay big portions of his radiation and medication. Without treatment right away this will only spread and make this situation much worse. He will be losing unpaid time from work for treatments and recovery and trying to pay for all of these costly expenses, and still have to have his monthly bills paid as well. He is starting his journey in NYC next Friday he has three appointments with a team of specials and another one in Texas the week after all in which cost money. The last thing I want him worrying about is money. At this point all I want my father to worry about is his health and recovery. He has always been there for me my whole life and now it’s my time to be there for him more than ever. All in all his whole treatment will cost around $50,000 and we are trying to raise money for some of his medications and living costs. I have never asked anymore for anything in my life and neither has my father so this is hard for the both of us to do but with the time we have and what he needs I just don’t think we can pull off the full 50k in time. Regardless I will move mountains for my father and we will make this happen one way or another but with everyone’s help it will just be that much easier. My father has a huge support system and a great girlfriend who is doing all she can to make sure he is getting all the right medical attention he needs and fast! I can’t imagine life without my father and I pray my family gets through this tuff time. You know what they say tuff times don’t last tuff people do. So if anyone can help out in any way that would be greatly appreciated more than you know and please say a prayer for my father that he beats this and makes a full, fast recovery!
