When people tell you cancer sucks, believe them! On June 11, after 8 weeks of numerous procedures and the fear of the unknown, I was diagnosed with Stage 4 non small cell carcinoma of the lung with far-reaching metastasis, including a lesion on my brain. Please, do not pity me. There are far better people than I who have received the same diagnosis or worse, sin free children come to mind. This beast does not discriminate! Through the worst imaginable news delivered, I have begun to transform into the woman that God intended me to be. There have already been so many miracles to come from this. Friends, family... I am so blessed and full of faith, hope and love. It overwhelms me. That's how you know I will march through this storm, with God, my incredibly loving family, supportive friends, coworkers and a far reaching army of prayer warriors by my side, most I will never know their names or faces. I am grateful. This fight will not come without cost. My husband Mark and I live modestly in a 1962 rambler in Cottage Grove. We have a good life, a great life...we don't need much. My radiology oncologist stressed this over and over... she said while maintaining a positive attitude is great, enjoying things and doing the things you like is KEY, it is essential to extending my life. Many of those things come free, many will not. I have been on a personal leave from work since the beginning of June, due to the stress, along with pain in my upper back and spine. Bless his heart, Mark has been holding down the fort, working overtime, while running me to my appointments and financially supporting our day to day expenses. While we are blessed to have medical insurance, we are still incurring many out of pocket costs. The type of cancer I've been diagnosed with is incurable at this point, but IS treatable. It is a chronic disease I will have to live with and continue to treat for the rest of my life. The money raised through GoFundMe will go directly to cover my ongoing medical expenses, which include radiation, chemo, medications, and various tests and scans, as well as household expenses and allowing me to continue to do the little things in life that I enjoy and will give me purpose and strength and LIFE. I made a promise to myself from the very beginning and m that I will ask for help when I need it and everyone who knows me knows how difficult that is. I am asking for your help!!! I ask for your continued prayers for myself and my family. I humbly ask for any financial support you feel compelled to give. I ask that you share my story anywhere you can. I ask for compassion and understanding when necessary, and a kick in the ass when I need it! I ask that you wake up each day thankful and live each day to its fullest. I ask that you take every opportunity to reach out to your loved ones and let them know they're important. I pray for all of you, that you are now or one day will, be filled as I have with the love and strength of the Lord. It's funny...I have lung cancer, but for quite possibly the first time in my life, I can breathe... With much love and gratitude, a humble thank you from myself and my family ❤❤ Robyn, Mark, Amber and Joe
