Hello Friends… In early April 2019, at the age of 44, my beautiful friend Yolanda Carroll, a brilliant, lovely, light-filled, warm hearted,  joke tellin, garden havin, workout maven, single mother of daughter Kendall-age 7, was diagnosed with Triple-Negative Breast Cancer . Upon further review of pathology, it was determined that it had spread throughout her breast tissue. With that news, a course of treatment was developed.  As you know, cancer comes in all forms, Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC) however, is one of the most aggressive, invasive and unpredictable breast cancers with a poorer prognosis and higher recurrence rate than others.  Less than 10 % of breast cancers diagnosed are Triple Negative and as a result there are fewer targeted medicines in place for treatment. The 5 year survival rate is significantly lower than other types of breast cancer. There are no post-therapy regimens that can be given for TNBC to help prevent it from metastasizing. This particular cancer often metastasizes to the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord), bones or lungs within the first three years of treatment.   With that being said, Yolanda, like most TNBC patients, began chemotherapy treatments within days of her cancer diagnosis. For the first 8 weeks, she is receiving AC therapy which contains a combination of two drugs. “The Red Devil” is one of those two drugs, it is known to be the most powerful chemo drug ever invented and unfortunately can cause damage to her heart cells and a list of other side effects. Once chemo has been completed, Yolanda will undergo a lumpectomy, followed by daily radiation for about five weeks. WHEW! This doll has quite the long battle ahead of her. She is on an aggressive mission to fight back .... primarily for her witty, adventurous and sweet daughter Kendall who is her driving force to overcome this disease. The goal of this fund is to take some of the pressure of her escalating medical cost and living expenses which have begun to take a toll, as well as to allow all personal efforts to be focused on herself, her daughter and her treatment. **Any donation will directly support Yolanda and her babygirl and EVERY little bit helps** Thank you ALL in advance. So reminder ladies, Nobody enjoys getting a mammogram, but it is an essential prevention measure against breast cancer deaths, SO PLEASE, if you are over 40, get regular Mammograms... please.
