My name is Chelsea and I co-run Canine Carroll Rescue with my friend Susan. We have an amazing little dog named Mr B in our rescue. Mr B came into our rescue on April 8th after getting a phone call from Minneapolis Animal Care and Control about a severely abused dog needing immediate foster placement. He had been at an emergency animal hospital receiving treatment but needed to go to an experienced foster home for continuation of intense therapies. Mr B was burned with a caustic liquid repeatedly(burns were all at different stages of healing). He was then thrown from a vehicle. He had full thickness burns all over his face, ears, head, neck, chest, abdomen, and legs. The material had also gotten into his eyes causing pain and damage. He was also bruised on both sides from repeated blows to the chest. Mr B was terrified of people and in so much pain. We were able to get him to eat by hand feeding him but were unable to touch him. We treated him with multiple pain medications, antibiotics, creams on his burns, ointments in his eyes, and patience. We had a setback with infection setting into his legs but with the help of his veterinarian we were able to control it. Over the next month we were seeing little improvements both physically and emotionally. Mr B was starting to trust us and seeking out affection. This is when we knew he was going to make it! It has been over 2 months since B has come into our rescue and he is not the same dog! He likes people, he wants love, he is living again not just existing! Mr B's medical expenses have been adding up. He has had x-rays to look for possible broken ribs, possible broken legs, and internal injuries. He has had to go under anesthesia to have his burns cleaned and the infection in his back legs assessed. Mr B has also been neutered and had an umbilical hernia that was very painful repaired while in rescue. We have noticed that even though the infection in his legs is resolved he has a limp and won't use his back left leg. Mr B had an exam with an orthopedic surgeon who confirmed our fears, he needs surgery on his leg. When he was thrown from the moving vehicle he ruptured his cruciate ligament in his knee. The only way to make him comfortable and give him the use of his leg is surgery. We are a small rescue. It's Susan and I doing it all. We have no outside foster homes. We are a 501c3 rescue and do not pay ourselves anything. All adoption fees go directly back to the animals and their care. Thank you for your donations!
