June 1st, 2019 Haley Newman’s whole world flipped. Haley & her Dad were hiking in Cabazon & both slipped and fell off a 30-40 ft. waterfall and landed on rocks and a few inches of water. Haley lost all control of her legs & her Dad moved her to a dry rock and hiked out on a broken ankle to go get help. Haley was helicoptered out and taken to Palm Springs Trauma center for spinal surgery. She broke her right tibia, L1 burst fracture pressing into her spinal cord. She has regained feeling in her legs and can mildly move them. She has a long journey ahead of her but She will be walking again one day. She needs love and support from everyone this isn’t easy.Pray Bold Prayers. Our God is as big as our prayers. From Mom:So many have asked how they can help Haley, Matt & the Newman family. The most important focus for Haley these next months will be rehab. Once she returns home, insurance will cover in home rehab twice a week. We will be hiring private Physical therapists to speed up her recovery for intense therapy 5 times a week. The neurosurgeon continues to say, “Haley is young & with a lot of hard work, she should make 100% recovery” we believe with the correct professionals in place she can return to her Senior year at Azusa Pacific this next fall. She will also need some adjustments made to the house for access. Any little bit will help & go to Haley’s recovery. Thank you friends & family for the prayers & support.
