Horror For RAICES

$1,633 of $10,000 goal

Raised by 97 people in 1 month
Nightscape Press is putting together an emergency charitable anthology for RAICES called Horror For RAICES. RAICES is a major player in the fight for immigrant and refugee rights in the United States.

Horror For RAICES will be edited by Jennifer Wilson and Robert S. Wilson and all net proceeds from the book will go to RAICES. If you donate $10 or more via this fundraiser, you will get an advance uncorrected eBook copy of the book as soon as it's ready.

Our aim for this publication is to have the ebook officially available by August, 2019 with the trade paperback edition coming shortly thereafter.

Our aim for this GoFundMe is to raise at least our goal before the official release. Please help spread the word!

Horror For RAICES will include stories by Paul Tremblay, Laird Barron, Ramsey Campbell, Christopher Slatsky, Paul Michael Anderson, and more fantastic authors still yet to be announced.

We are beyond elated to announce that we’ve recently accepted the following stories for Horror For RAICES:

“The Goose Girl” by Billy Martin (Poppy Z. Brite) is a gruesome glimpse into the life of Seely, a teenage girl whose mother, when she died, left behind a single handkerchief stained with three mysterious drops of blood. We couldn’t be more pleased to be including it in Horror For RAICES! This story is dreadfully apropos to some current events in a completely devastating way.

“At the End of the Pier” by Gabino Iglesias is a brutal noir tale with a horrifically weird twist about a young man’s first day on the job dropping off bodies to sleep with the fishes. This one really grabs you by the throat too! A stellar piece of work.

“An Aviary in the Atrium” by Brookelynn Warra is a staggeringly beautiful tale of a girl whose heart is an enigma to all who study it. A perfect addition to this book!

“The Two-Wheel System” by Matthew M. Bartlett is a stunning look inside a dangerous mind unwound and untethered, and we are grateful to include it!

“The Sea Hoax” by Farah Rose Smith is a brilliant story about the war of status between two women and the pink mysterious substance that nearly destroys one of them. Another excellent addition to what has quickly become one of the best anthologies we’ve ever been involved with!

We’ll have two more bulk announcements in the coming weeks and we’re on track to have this book ready for those of you who have donated $10 or more to this GoFundMe by around the end of the month. And then it will go on to be published far and wide around early to mid September.

Thank you all again so much for your contribution and please, please continue to share and spread the word about this GoFundMe and the book itself! ICE is ramping up their raids in a lot of places and tearing more and more families apart every day and it’s so important to us to raise every little bit we can for RAICES right now. Thank you all again!

"Mercury" by Livia Llewellyn
"Soul of Me" by Laird Barron
"Fire (Fables of the Reconstruction)" by Elizabeth Hand
"House of Windows" by Paul Tremblay
"All the Ways to Hollow Out a Girl" by Gwendolyn Kiste
"Still Life With Extinct Animals" by Jeffrey Thomas
"We Were Made of Love Once" by Christopher Ropes

"A Children's Tour of the Facilities" by Kurt Fawver
"A Nervous Sleep" by Max Booth III
"2:45 to New Xebico" by Todd Keisling
"And In the End a Reckoning of What I Have Become" by Paul Michael Anderson

And... we have more announcements still to come. Some big ones. So, please, if you haven't already, consider donating to this campaign which gives directly to RAICES.

Everybody who donates $10 or more will receive an early eBook copy of the book. And if you're not familiar with RAICES, they are a fantastic charity that works to provide free or low cost legal services to immigrants and refugees trying to enter the United States. They are one of the major players in the battle to regain sanity in our immigration system.

A system that has been brutally warped and now grinds its way through the lives of human beings--even children--in a gross and merciless political machine that feeds on xenophobia and cold racist nationalism for no other reason than to stoke the fire of one detestable politician's rotten core of supporters.

So, please, help us raise money for this imperative cause and get a really really cool book in the process! And if, right now is not a good time financially (trust me, we so completely understand!) please share far and wide and help us get the word out for this one. We've raised about $1,367 so far, but I think we can do more. Much more. You all can help us accomplish that. Thank you all!

This campaign has lost a lot of steam this past week. Please please please share this announcement to help get the ball in the air again! Tell your friends and family! Tell your neighbors! Their neighbors! you get the idea!

Without further ado... We're excited to announce the following brand new stories that have recently been accepted for Horror For RAICES!!!

"Mercury" by Livia Llewellyn, a mind-shattering tale of a woman haunted by the unvarnished reflections of her past.

“Still Life With Extinct Animals” by Jeffrey Thomas, in which a woman buys a beautifully odd painting of trilobites in a thrift store and brings it home only to find that some of them have... disappeared from the painting.

"A Children's Tour of the Facilities" by Kurt Fawver, an unnerving tale of children detained in a camp who randomly and mysteriously disappear in the night when "the astronauts" come for them.

More announcements forthcoming! We still have some more tricks up our sleeves! And just a reminder, everybody who donates $10 or more to this campaign will get an early eBook copy of the anthology! Thank you all for donating and sharing! Let's help RAICES fight for the rights of immigrants and refugees!

Hi, everybody, Robert S. Wilson here. For those of you who don’t follow us on Facebook and/or Twitter, the other day we said when we hit $1,000 we’d announce another name and then we did and then subsequently announced the addition of Gwendolyn Kiste to the TOC!!! Gwen’s story is a gut punch of a tale with just the right weird element to make it truly strange and yet truly human and we couldn’t be happier to have it in this book! Fast as we’re putting this thing together, it’s imperative to us that we put out an amazing product as well so that it will continue to sell well for years to come and raise as much money for RAICES as possible.

Speaking of. It’s day five and at present, thanks to the kind donations of many, we’ve now raised nearly $1200 for RAICES from this campaign! We are very thankful to all of you who have shared, donated, or both, it truly is such a wonderful thing you have done! But, with that said, I think, together, we can raise much more. We have plenty more authors to announce from the TOC, so in order to help encourage folks to share and/or donate, we’ll be announcing a new name every $500 we’ve raised here since the last announcement (i.e. when we hit $1500 we’ll make the next announcement).

So, at present, we have only $308 to raise before we can announce another amazing contributor to this fantastic anthology! So, please, if you’ve already donated, share this campaign on social media and be sure to mention that we’re giving everybody who donates $10 or more an early eBook copy of the book. GoFundMe particularly points out that we could raise as much as 350% more by sharing on Facebook but we’ve also seen a lot of movement on Twitter that has helped a ton as well. Either way, we would very much appreciate any boost you can give us. But, for those who haven’t donated yet, and/or maybe even those who have, we do have another incentive for folks to donate and donate well, for anyone who might be interested:

We’re currently curating a bundle of rare books and other items to give to the one person who donates the most money in total to this campaign from any number of donations. So think of this as a sort of auction. Or even a challenge. We’ll have more details as to what will be in the bundle very soon, but suffice it to say, it will be spectacular. Thank you all again!
