Our mom,  Elva Miranda has been fighting for her life since September 2018— when she was officially diagnosed with a failing liver. Elva also has type 3 diabetes among other health complicated health ailments too. She has gone through 100s of tests to be qualified to be on the transplant list.  At this point, her stomach is so extended doctors must biweekly extract over two liters of fluid. Finally,  in May of 2019-- after months of fighting she was put on the transplant list. She is now in Seattle awaiting transplant. This could take anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 months. Meanwhile, she is holding on for her life.

Elva needs her support team  (Gary, Elisha and Tiffany) to supplement her motivation and ensure she’s getting what she needs during this time. None of us live in Seattle Washington, where mom now waits.  Gary lives in Spokane, WA four hours from mom, Elisha lives in San Jose, CA and  Tiff lives in Colorado Spring, CO. While supporting her in Seattle, we need to cover lodging, flights to Seattle and rides from Spokane, transpiration,  food and incidentals pre-transplant.  We have already expended over $30,000,  out of our personal pockets during these past nine months.  Now, we must also plan for post-transplant care as Elva will have to remain in Seattle for 6-9 months after transplant -- accruing monthly housing rental (at least $1800 in Seattle), transportation to and from mom's medical appointments, food expenses, and she must continue take meds post transplant which will run $600-700 a month that isn't covered by her insurance.  All of these expenses accrued are above and beyond her regular medical bills.  It's difficult to keep up with these challenges given the distance, jobs, families and we all have respective mortgages and rent for our primary homes. So, we are reaching out to our community for help to raise at least $10K.

Our mom wanted to be a dancer when she was a kid, but life circumstances did not make this a reality. When she moved to Spokane after escaping an abusive relationship, she finally met Gary and fell in love.  They began taking tango lessons together,  and mom was so happy.  Mom has always been able to see the positive side of everything, always lending a hand for those in need.

Please help us make her every day comfortable, while we fight with mom for her life.  Pa'lante, Siempre Pa'lante.
