Mila Grace’s Happy Feet Fund

As many of you might already know, my niece Mila Grace was born with Spina Bifida. Secondary to her Spina Bifida, she was also born with bilateral clubbed feet. We are so blessed by Mila’s progress so far that despite all the bad things that ‘could have been’, her biggest struggle has just been her feet. She started treatment immediately after birth first with some bracing while she was in the NICU, then onto serial casting and an operation called a Tenotomy, which was performed by a recommended doctor here in Houston. Unfortunately, this doctor did not properly treat Mila’s feet and when Natalie questioned whether or not Mila’s feet were actually fully corrected due to some concerns she had, the doctor actually made the comment “Well, this is good enough because she just needs to be brace-able since she has Spina Bifida and will never be able to walk on her own anyways.” While “good enough” might be just fine for that particular doctor, “good enough” is not good enough for Natalie and Kevin. They did their research and decided to take Mila to the best orthopedic surgeon to get her clubbed feet PROPERLY treated. Dr. Matthew Dobbs in St. Louis, Missouri is THE guy to go to for clubfoot treatment and we are all so excited for our Mila to get the proper treatment she needs. Dr. Dobbs and his team started Mila’s treatment last Wednesday (6/5) and Mila will require 2 more casts before getting surgery on 6/25. Natalie and Kevin are trying their best to make sure Mila is able to receive the best care possible but of course this comes with some serious financial expenses. Travel, hotel, food, the medical bills and of course also trying to make sure Mila is happy and distracted from her casts- it adds up quickly.
