Our three year old daughter Ella Mucha was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on October 8 2018It all started with a concerning amount of bruises that appeared all over her legs and I immediately knew something was wrong so I rushed her to Abbotsford hospital were they had me in and out of there within 45 minutes to an hour. Blood work had been drawn and the results had come back with an irregular CBC count, meaning all of her blood counts weren’t normal. The paediatrician at Abbotsford looked at me and said I am rushing you to BC Children’s hospital and it is either Leukemia or a blood disorder. Sure enough we get there and the ER doctor said the same thing and that Oncology will be down to talk with you I went into a fog and just kept thinking positive thoughts like this can’t be cancer but it turned out it was A parents worst nightmare was now our reality The new normal meant constant trips to Children’s hospital every 3 days for her to be poked with a 1 1/2” access needle into her port that was placed in her chest and then small doses of adult chemo was placed into her artery and also she had to be put under anesthesia for a lumbar poke with chemo added into her CNS spinal fluid every 3 days It was heartbreaking to see her go through all of this and to lose her hair or at times not being able to walk from the chemo affecting the nerves in her body Fast forward to now where we have found out the raw truth of childhood cancer and that there is only a 35 week leave for one parent to take to be with their child while they are battling an illness. Ella’s treatment plan is 2 years long without any hiccups or setbacks and she can’t go to daycare being immuno compromised what is a parent to do :( I can’t imagine leaving my baby and going back to work as a Health Care Aide bringing home illnesses that she can’t be around and I am her full time nurse at home administering chemo meds, steroids and all other pain control meds I like to think I am a Super Mom but I can’t do it all :( This Go fund me is to try and raise money so I can stay home with Ella for the next year and a half and be by her side We are forever thankful for everyone supporting us and helping us in this fight .... it means more to us than you will ever know
