Luke Gannon Professional Golf

Donation protected

As I have graduated and completed my eligibility, the next chapter of my life is professional golf. This has been my goal since I began playing when I was 14, and I now have the opportunity to go for it. This is where I'm seeking your help in the process. The professional world of golf works differently than every other sport.  You aren't signed to a large contract to play but have to finance yourself to begin playing in the professional world. With your help financially, it will help me get started on this journey. I have set the above financial goal which will help get me started this summer. This golf process begins soon with Monday qualifiers for the Web.com tour along with the mini-tour which I will be playing on, the APT tour which is the strongest tour domestically. Your donation will go toward travel expenses (lodging, food, gas), entry fees for qualifiers, mini-tour events, and equipment.  I look forward to the challenge ahead. As you all have seen from my past records and achievements throughout high school and college, I will work hard to reach the next level. If you would like to receive email newsletter updates of my playing locations and score updates along the journey, please leave me a note in the comments.  Just as I accomplished the goals I set out for in college, I'm excited to begin this new chapter. Thanks for any amount you can donate! It means the world to me!

The Beginning:

In my younger years, I never played golf.  From ages 3 to 14, I was playing competitive baseball. When I turned 14, my brother Drew and I decided to play nine holes at Sierra Hills Golf Club in Wichita, a par three course.  I was immediately hooked on the game. Since that day, golf has been my passion. The summer I entered high school as a freshman, I began to play golf and completely liked how individualized the game was.  After learning the basics, I fell in love with the game. In addition to high school spring golf, I began playing a lot of tournaments and was spending many hours practicing.  During this time, I also played hockey for about three years to keep in shape.  I reached the point where I needed to make a decision and pick a sport to focus on. I chose golf because I was seeing my game improve with the investment of time and practice. During the four years of high school, my game progressed and during my senior year, I was recruited by an NCAA Division 1 school, Southern Illinois University. I played all four years at SIU - Carbondale graduating with a degree in Finance.  With each year's improvement in my golf game, I knew I wanted to play golf professionally. Our team made it to two NCAA Division I Regional Tournaments in four years.

College:
During my time at Southern Illinois, it was not all sunshine and marigolds. The first couple of years were extremely tough. We saw harder courses, some of the best amateurs in the world, keeping up with college classes and the rigorous practice/travel schedule. Although it was a rough start, I did see improving results each year which was very encouraging to move on to the next level. If you would like me to email you a PDF of my progress throughout college from scoring averages to world rankings I can do so easily. This will give you an idea of the development I've seen throughout my college career and summer tournaments. I wouldn't be where I am today without my experience at SIU, various instructional golf pros who've worked countless hours to help me improve my game, friends who've encouraged me and my family.
