Sol Dumadag, Ma'am Sol to most, Lolie Sol to her grandchildren and Mama Sol to us, her children, is currently on her 30th day of confinement in St Luke's Medical Center. What was first thought of as a simple infection of the tonsils last December turned out to be Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. This is a kind of cancer which affects a person's lymph nodes but is very treatable through chemotherapy. The PET scan showed Mama's nodes from her neck down are affected. Thank God her brain is not. She is for 6-8 chemotherapy sessions to treat the disease. She had her first session last May 18 and markedly improved. However, just when she was ready for discharge, she had bleeding last May 25 due to a ruptured diverticula, a congenital pouch in her large intestine. She had to go through a procedure to stop the bleeding and was moved to the Coronary Care Unit for close monitoring. Today, May 30, she will be moved to the Progressive Care Unit. We pray for her continued improvement as they stabilize her so she can proceed with her second chemotherapy session. It has been quite a journey for us as a family. The prayers and generosity of close relatives and friends have helped us with Mama's treatment. And Mama's desire to get well as well as her positive spirit have made us keep believing that the Lord who she and the late Papa Flor serve faithfully through the Love for Kids, St Vincent Parish and San Roque Choir to name a few will not abandon nor forsake Mama in her time of need.It is on this note that we would like to appeal for the generous help of those who love Mama and whose lives she touched. Whatever you give will help us with her enormous hospital expenses and chemotherapy sessions. There is no way we will be able to repay you. But may the Lord who said in Mt 25:36 "for I was... ill and you cared for me" repay you with a hundredfold return and the answers to your prayers. Our family's deepest gratitude.
