Cara Schuster Uplift

Our dear friend and community supporter Cara Schuster lost her courageous and fiercely independent mother on Saturday, May 18th. Bev had been recently diagnosed with terminal cancer, but the abrupt passing of her life came as a shock. This is our chance to uphold Cara in her time of grief, the way she has lifted so many others. Coincidentally, she has shared her skills on managing end-of-life issues, through free community workshops. It’s our turn to be there for her. She has dedicated herself as a professional healer, a vocation without sick leave or benefits. For Cara, taking off of work means losing money. This tragedy comes while Cara is already in transition, relocating to another home, strapped with recent vet bills for her senior dog, Sunny. She needs assistance with grief counseling expenses. Together we can make a difference by reducing her financial stress, as she moves forward adjusting to the world without one of the most important people in her life.Bev was a long time member, volunteer and employee of Unity of Lawrence, and she took great pride in her work. She was frequently on the front lines advocating for people of marginalized communities throughout her life. We believe she would have been comforted to know our community came together in reciprocation of her giving spirit to support her daughter.
