Hello!
We are a group of medical students from the University of Saskatchewan taking part in a global health initiative within the hospitals and communities of the Mozambican cities of Nampula and Inhambane this summer. Our team consists of five medical students: Ben Abelseth, McKayla Cozart, Nick Nishikawa, Savio Nguyen and Kristina Sawatzky and our preceptor Dr. Edward Rooke.
It is our hope to raise money in order to purchase medical supplies which are lacking or in short supply in the hospitals in Mozambique. We hope to encourage sustainability where we can by purchasing whichever supplies we can within the local communities in Mozambique, and only bringing with us the items that are unavailable in Mozambique.
Some of the supplies that we would be purchasing:
· Pediatric and adult IV catheters
· Newborn and mother sterile field towels
· Delivery kits (for vaginal delivery)
· High top gloves (OBGYN gloves)
· Surgical gloves
· Syringes
· Bladder Catheters
· Automatic BP monitors
· Finger oximeters
· Doppler stethoscopes (hand held ultrasounds)
· Ultrasound gel
· Glycometer
Edward Rooke will be withdrawing the funds to pay for the purchased medical supplies and providing a cash donation to the Marrere General Hospital for the purchase of additional medical supplies in country.
A small amount goes a long way! Thank you for your support!
