On May 3rd, little Lucas Gossage started having intense headaches. At 3 years old, this definitely wasn’t normal. Concerned, parents Amie and Joshua took him to his doctor on Monday. Doctor gave him the all clear and said to return if the pain continued. The headaches persisted and he was seen again on Thursday. Suspecting an ear infection was the cause of the pain, doctor gave him antibiotics. By Saturday his pain was unbearable and showing no improvement, so Mom and Dad pushed for more action and they had a CT scan. The scan showed a large mass on Lucas’ brain, as well as a large amount of fluid that was obviously causing his pain. The medical team took action and Lucas underwent surgery to remove the tumor on Sunday morning. The procedure was over 7 hours long, and Lucas was intubated until Tuesday morning and as of today, Tuesday, is still partially sedated.
The initial tests suggest that the tumor was benign, but his recovery will not be easy, and Amie and Joshua will be at his side every moment. Lucas is number 4 of 5 children, and has a new baby sibling on the way soon! The financial burden of an event like this on a family this size is tremendous. The Gossages are a beautiful, loving family, and they deserve to have finances be an afterthought during a time like this. Any contribution will help with medical bills, lost wages, and the costs of staying in the hospital with Lucas during his recovery. Please donate if you can, and share on social media. Every dollar, positive thought, and gesture of kindness is so greatly appreciated!
