Today we say goodbye to our dear sister and friend, Jacquelyn Cowan at the age of 30 years, after a long and agonizing 2+ years battle with liver disease.
Jacquelyn was 5 months pregnant when the doctors discovered something was going on with her liver. UTMB in Galveston TX. diligently worked with her while taking every precaution to protect the baby. He was born with several medical problems too but praise God, he is doing well. However, Mom's condition worsened after the birth of JJ. She was eventually put on the liver transplant list. Meanwhile she stayed in the hospital for months at a time.
Finally one day a liver match was found. We were so overjoyed! Jacquelyn was elated that she could again have a healthy liver and a normal life with her husband and 3 children.
She was taken to surgery but when they opened her up they found that she had advanced stage 4 cancer all in her liver and stomach cavity. We were all crushed at what the doctors discovered. At best she was given 6 months to live; we were blessed to have 3.
These last 3 months our little Jacquelyn fought with everything in her to live as the cancer consumed her, but regardless of her will to live the cancer won.
As we all know with any long term disease, costs are devistating. We are asking for help with the funeral expenses. Any financial gift to help the family with these costs will be so very much appreciated.
Funds are needed as soon as possible. Thank you.
