7 years ago our mom was diagnosed with glioblastoma (brain cancer) which caused her to lose movement and feeling on the right side of her body. After going through the entire process of chemo and radiation, our mom could no longer work, eventually losing her job of 15 years and causing a hard financial strain on our father. They had to use all of their retirement funding to pay the extreme costs that our mom’s health insurance wouldn’t cover. Six years later, after officially being considered “cancer-free” for a year, our mom was rediagnosed with the same brain cancer. It has been less than a year since she was rediagnosed, and our father (who is the only one working of the two, as a carpenter) is paying a majority out of pocket to get her the treatment and care that they need. He has spent almost $26,000 within the last six months, but the doctors project this will be going on for another three years. Our parents do not have the funds in their retirement anymore to pay for all of the treatment our mom needs. They will wind up going bankrupt, and we need all the help we can get. The amount we are asking for is for just about another six months of surgery so our dad can make more money to let our parents keep their house and pay for her care. To all that donate, thank you. You will never understand how much we appreciate this.
