This is a story of the fight against cancer
You expect to see cancer but not amongst your friends at the age of 52 and for the SECOND time
Phil Evans had bowel cancer in his early forties
And this was put down to lifestyle diet and a few drinks-nothing exceptional just a normal lifestyle maybe a bit of stress but Phil’s an ordinary guy like you and me
But what’s different you say?
10 years later and the advance in medicine and genetics have shown Phil has a disposition towards cancer in his family genes for this is a DIFFERENT cancer from the first one but in the same place-crazy huh!
After a couple of long and invasive surgeries and metastasising into his liver Phil’s now in recovery at home with a twelve week chemotherapy course that makes him feel very ill.
What now?
Phil’s liver will grow back and hopefully he will go into remission so it’s on with the treatments and the change in diets and lifestyle again.
What the future holds we can only be hopeful for but so far everything is very positive.
Whilst Phil is under the microscope it’s easy to forget the effect it has on his wife Sarah and children Jacob and Rebecca. They have also been through some incredibly worrying and sad times and they are mentally and physically exhausted.
So what’s the point of this?
The idea was is to raise funds for a holiday of a lifetime in Florida. The accommodation is taken care of but we want to raise a modest amount to pay for flights/hire car/taxi/spending money
If we raise more than £5,000 then any money raised over this amount will go to a charity of Phil’s choice.
There is one caveat...Phil and the family don’t know!
This will be a surprise to aid recovery and give them the rest they so deserve and to build memories.
In starting this we want nothing and will take nothing our contribution is to help a family.
Thank you for taking the time to read this
