Katrina’s Journey

Donation protected
Hi everybody! Most of you know who I am, but I’m Katrina! I’m 20 years young and trying my best to survive. Recently, I was accepted into a few universities/ state schools to continue my educational journey. I am proud to say that I will be accepting UC Davis’s offer to me to obtain a bachelors degree in both Sociology and Psychology! If you were to ask anybody or even myself a few years back, I never thought this day would come or that I’d even still be in school. I AM A FIRST GENERATION COLLEGE STUDENT!

I’ve encountered a few obstacles over the past few years including my parent’s divorce, becoming financially unstable, and moving away from home. With that being said, I have taken a toll physically, mentally, and emotionally. I am on the right path to finding myself again and pushing through all the difficult times, but the one thing that I cannot stress most about is; not knowing how I will be able to afford the next two years in school.

Some hurdles that I have had to face recently were my dad being away while working multiple job sites, his development of heart problems, and his overall health. Due to those reasons, I feel it unfair to fully depend on him financially rather than seeking help. As for my mother, she is busy working her butt off back home while also dealing with physical health problems such as blood clots in her legs. My sister is her responsibility and has a lot going on in high school, so my best option now is trying my best to do it on my own.

I understand that there are all sorts of more important causes to provide for, but it would mean so much if you could help me with a little to survive. Both my parent’s are working so hard just to survive on their own while supporting another child, so I have decided to reach out to anyone who is willing to do something for me! This would help me cover school expenses, living expenses, travel expenses (if I choose to study abroad), as well as being able to feed myself while in school. The most important thing is being able to afford tuition and actually being able to enroll in my classes which are not cheap. So far, I am working 2-3 jobs in order to take care of myself but I would appreciate some help and be extremely grateful.

Some goals I wish to have for my future include:
1.) Graduating with TWO bachelors
2.) Using my skills to help people in need
3.) Eventually become a therapist who specializes in helping those overcome their trauma
4.) Seek to obtain a masters/ PHD to get into Psychiatry

All of these goals can be achieved with the right mindset and effort, however it will not come at a inexpensive cost.

With that being said, if anybody has a chance to read this and would like to help out, I would be more than grateful. I am doing this for myself, my grandparents, parents, and most of all- my little sister!
