Hi my name is ALLAN BUCKLEY (APE) I'm a former soldier who had the pleasure to serve my country, in what I would say and it is a bias opinion the best REGIMENT IN THE BRITISH ARMY " Royal Regiment of Fusiliers most commonly known as RRF" I joined up 4days after leaving school where I trained to be an infantry soldier and as a Drummer. So when I would join the Bn and go straight to joining the Corps of Drums

I served 90% of my time in the CoD and had some fun times and memories. So let's fast-forward a few years now to the present! and myself and another veteran ( Derek Johnson)from the same corps of drums would like to form our own VETERANS CORPS OF DRUMS to bring back the good old times with other veterans in our local area as well as any other support that the veterans may need in real life. I'm asking for £5000 funding for the kit ie drums, flutes, drum skins, drum sticks, side drum slings. tunics, trousers, hats, bugles, Glocks and to help with the rent for the premises that we intend to use. please find a full mission statement below

5. The aim of NWV Corps of Drums (CoD) once formed is to teach and prepare volunteers to perform as a military-style Corps of Drums. We propose to do this in the following ways.

a. Support the Armed Forces veterans on events such as the act of Remembrance.

b. Be involved in any charitable events run by Veterans and local charities.

c. Conduct events independently to raise funds for Veterans and local charities.

d. Fundraise using charitable platforms such as a Gofundme official fundraising page.

6. We aim to achieve these goals by using the following methods as a Corps of Drums.

a. Marching Corps of Drums.

b. Concert Performances

c. Black Light Drums Display Team

Northwest Veterans Corps of Drums will primarily be a traditional military-style marching CoD. This will involve learning a number of military flute and drum marches. As a marching CoD, there will be a need to learn how to march and play the instruments both in quick and slow time.

NWV Corps of Drums Concert performances

We aim to organise and conduct concert performances to raise funds. The concerts will give the opportunity for members that have limited mobility to be a part of our Corps. In addition, we would also like to give members the opportunity to showcase their musical talents in ways other than military music. Members that play other musical instruments will be given the opportunity to shine at our organised concerts. We also hope to support and be supported by Valley Brass Band.

Black Light Drums Displays

As a Corps of Drums, we will have a Blacklight Drums display team. This team will be for the more technical Drummers amongst the Corps. The Blacklight display is very popular, every side drummer will be given the opportunity to be part of the team once they are of a suitable standard.

Experience

Although we will be a Veteran led organisation people with experience in cadet forces will also be accepted as members. We would like to welcome all members regardless of their ability and musical experience. We would ask that all members are flexible and open to opportunities to be part of the Corps. Everyone will be given the opportunity to be a part of all aspects of the Corps of Drums.

The Committee would like to take the opportunity to thank those of that have committed their time and effort to join the Northwest Veterans Corps of Drums. I have no doubt that with a lot of hard work we will be part of something you can be proud of.
