Every day new people arrive in Chicago from the border with little more than the clothes on their backs and the waning hope that they are on their way to a better life. Over the past 6 months the community connected to the 19th District Police Station has worked tirelessly and with great generosity to welcome and support these new arrivals. We have raised over $50,000 in various fundraisers, including and earlier GoFundMe.
But winter is coming and there are more expenses and needs that are not met through donations or city services. 19th District Migrant and Refugee support 2.0 recognizes that we have entered a new phrase in maintaining support while city departments work on new solutions for providing more stable, shelter relief. These financial gifts will be prioritized towards meals, medical and seasonal needs.
Keep in touch following your contribution as we provide updates several times a month.
