UPDATES-- 11/11/2025

Hello everyone, and thank you for all your support for 1977! We just wanted to give a few updates in regards to the film's progress and budget. We are very proud to announce that with the help of two private donations, we have raised a total of 6,700$. This has gotten us through all of our pre production and principal photography stages; so, with the final stretch in our view we have moved our focus to post production. With that being said we have a remaining 6000$ to raise to get 1977 officially on its feet and off the hard drive. This remainder of our budget will go towards editing, sound design, color grading, composition, and any other finishing touches the film requires. In addition to this, we are aiming to raise 4000$ or as much as possible for marketing and distribution: film festival entries, film screenings, and any other opportunities that arise to help get this film seen.
To help reach these goals we are actively looking for partnerships and potential collaborations with both businesses and individuals. Our goal is to have a couple of community screenings across Southern California (and potentially even one in Northern California), so if you would like to become an official sponsor of 1977 and have your business and/or cause mentioned in our credits, please reach out! We are considering all avenues right now and are very much looking forward to getting fresh eyes on this project.

Flora (16) is busy smoking weed with a group of her closest school friends one summer evening. A prank brings the five girls to the off-limits attic, where they come upon a mysterious old looking cardboard box. It’s vaguely dated June 14th, 1961 on the side.

Flora decides to open the box, the date being so close to her own birthday. In the small decaying cardboard box, the girls uncover a sixteen year old secret: Flora had been stolen as a newborn from her mother’s hospital room.

News articles, polaroids, case files, a police interview, and a secretive old journal reveal that only a couple days after she was born, Flora was torn away from her real mother and taken across the country to live in complete ignorance of the truth.

All of the girls are horrified to find out that Flora's assumed "parents" are really the same people who kidnapped her sixteen years ago. However, as the girls continue to dig they find out that Flora’s birth mom had her own secrets. Confused, hurt, anxious, and still a little high, Flora and her friends jump into action to get the answers they need, all before the night is up. That is, until Flora's parents get home.
