A little bit of an update...
It is with shyness, and humility to come back to this fundraiser and share with you all on the latest developments with our store. When we began the fundraiser the sole purpose was to help us - Annie with co-funds from my personal job income, to boost our book inventory with an additional 1500-2000 books.
Unfortunately due to some very difficult decisions, I no longer have the cushion of an additional income. And like Murphy's Law, when I did have that cushion, the store was doing amazingly well! That is until March hit.
Which is why I also realized that the need for more new books and a boost of our speciality curated books would be amazing to YOU!
But, now with the changes, we need your help, truly need your help. Any donation amount, from $1+ and sharing of this fundraiser will be super helpful and beneficial, to get us back on track and in a healthy place with new books, inventory and additional events to keep the momentum going! I love being here and love what we are building, but as many other small businesses in town we need your support to keep us going.
From your visit to our store, either buying a physical book in store or buying from us online with an order form OR supporting us our affiliate store on Bookshop.org 1974 Bookshop is a blessing! As many of you know, we love out tiny community of Booklovers, Authos, Artists and friends! And it's why I am so passionate about our store and wanting to continue to support events and a platform for Authors free of charge and a price point model of $25 or under!
And with now so much more free time available, my goal and determination to take 1974 Bookstore with YOU to Next Level is more important than ever. 1974 Bookstore is my creative space, my passion, my art and now my livelihood! We are the "Underdogs" LOL but we like it! We want to remain creative, unique, and welcoming to all the "Underdogs" and Underrepresented voices, to share their passion for books, art and music all around!
With Independent Bookstore Day coming up in April, 25th it would be such an amazing challenge for us to meet our goal! If you love our Pioneer Park story and want to help us remain vital to our overall community, I am looking to you to help us make it!
We know times are pretty rough, and I contemplated several sleepless nights coming into this platform and ask for community help to take us to the next level. But in my hearts of hearts, I realized that asking for help vs drowning would have gone against what I truly believe in and that is "It Always Takes A Village" . I am thankful to my Daughters Beverly and Callista and my Hubby Jolon for their support always, but I am absolutely grateful for this amazing Book Lovers community in Salt Lake City and BEYOND!
And as our #1 best selling tote bag says " Want to Piss Off A Billionaire, Shop Local!
Hugs, Annie
