18th Annual MLK Day of Community Service

Donation protected
Honestly, I considered canceling the Day of Community Service this year . . . the thought of how to do it safely just completely overwhelmed me.

But how could I cancel an event that helps so many people when so many more are in need of help because of the pandemic? I knew we couldn’t just skip it. I looked to last year’s GoFundMe plea and found these words:

With the current climate being one where some individuals and groups feel free to boldly spread hate, we choose to boldly spread love. We make the conscientious decision to spend our day off gathered together with family, neighbors, friends, acquaintances and strangers to make it a day on.

We honor the memory of Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King, Junior by volunteering our time for the sake of others.

Together we initiate the ripple effect of making our world a better place.

Adequately inspired, I got to work on my planning.

Will the Day of Community Service look the same this year? Not at all.

Will it spread love? Will it honor Dr. King? Will it initiate a ripple effect into making the world a better place? Yes, yes and yes.

If you are able to donate financially so that I may buy supplies, I would greatly appreciate it.
