1804 S Park St Fire - Bike Right Recovery Fund

Donation protected
As many of you know, the 1804 S Park warehouse, housing Bike Right/Unbroken Chains Cycles, was tragically destroyed on the evening of Friday, March 31 in a large structure fire. Bike Right has occupied this space for over the past decade. During this time we helped fund Freewheel to teach community bike repair classes and give away over 14,000 bicycles both within the community and through the Africa Bikes project. We are also very proud that our business won both the 2019 eBay Shine Award and 2019 AmFam Game Day Dreamer Award. We were also featured on Good Morning America in 2020.

While the cause of the fire is still unknown, we are trying to look forward- to learn from the past, rather than live in it. We want to stay true to our values and take care of our staff and the community while trying to make sense of this. Before the fire, we were in a period of growth- we had been awarded a small business loan that funded the destroyed inventory. It is unlikely that insurance will be able to cover the full loss, but we are determined to rebuild the business and resume bicycle donation programs.

We are humbly asking for donations to purchase tools, infrastructure, and to keep staff employed while we secure a new location.
