18 Inch Journey and Costa Rica Medical Mission
Donation protected
Hi there!
Laura here gearing up to head back into the mission field! Life has changed a lot since leaving the UK mission field due to burnout. I've taken time to recalibrate, focus on some of the passions I feel God has given me, and received new qualifications to deliver important First Aid skills to people who need it. God has been actively stripping away my religion, and showing me what it means to live by grace rather than false expectation.
This fundraiser is going towards a few different things, the first being a program called the 18 Inch Journey this September-October.
Ever heard of the song No Longer Slaves? I'll be spending 2 months with the writers of this song and other students and teachers, learning what it looks like to live a life with Jesus that is sustainable in the long haul. So many people in and out of the mission field struggle with burnout or lack discipline to take care of themselves well, at times forcing them to abandon their call to missions. After struggling with this myself, especially at the beginning of the covid pandemic, my desire is that this program would equip me with the tools to not only take care of myself, but to help others to do the same.
The second thing this fundraiser is going towards is a medical mission in Costa Rica in December. Since returning to the USA, I have become qualified to teach Basic and Wilderness First Aid and CPR. I will be partering with a few coworkers and YWAM Nicoya to deliver Wilderness First Aid classes to rural communities. Ambulances are far and few between in certain areas of Costa Rica, and my team will be delivering crucial skills that could give many an extra chance at life. We will otherwise be working with YWAM Nicoya to pass out Bibles and assist them in their ministries.
Anything raised beyond the target amount will go towards relocating back to the UK in early 2023.
I appreciate your partnered generosity and/or prayers!
As many of you know, missionaries are not necessarily employed, but are normally backed by a team championing them in prayer and support. Some of you have partnered with me throughout the years, and some are starting now. Either way, I'm grateful and pray that in your generosity, you would see the faithfulness and generosity of God, which stretches farther than we could ever comprehend for ourselves.
