17 year old home invasion survivor

On February 10th, Kasey & Emma woke up on a normal Friday having no idea their lives would change forever. Emma is a Senior in high school. She was leaving school early on Friday and planned to go home to take a nap. Instead, she decided to go visit her father. While visiting, Emma became a victim of a tragic home invasion where she was the only survivor. She lost her father and grandfather in this horrific crime. Emma suffered 3 gun shot wounds to her neck and back, but continues to fight and amaze all of us day after day. Her road to recovery is very long. She will need inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient rehabilitation, and also home health. Short term goals for her recovery are 15-18 months. Along with the physical rehabilitation, Emma is going to need psychiatric therapy for years to come.

Kasey and Emma are so blessed with a village that loves and wants to help them, but the road to recovery is going to be very long. Kasey is a single mother who has recently started her career in hair styling. Emma is her first priority but not being able to be behind the chair takes a toll.

God was watching over Emma that day. She showed how brave and courageous she was and continues to show those strengths daily. She has had great days and she has had bad days. That will continue. Emma is going to need our love and support for the following months while she goes through this crucial recovery.
