'In Human Skin' - A Swinburne 16mm Sci-Fi Short Film
Donation protected
Set in the 1950s, 'In Human Skin' is a fantastical take on human identity through the imitation of life on screen...
After a curious alien stumbles upon the premiere of a sci-fi film, it becomes fascinated with a beloved actor and attempts to assume his identity.
We aim to pay homage to the art of practical filmmaking, before CGI and other visual effects became increasingly relevant, to give our audience a spectacle of genre! We will bring this story to life with practical effects, constructing miniatures and models that harken back to the golden age of cinema! Shooting on 16mm film is a rare but awesome opportunity to return to the absolute roots of filmmaking.
What will your donation go towards?
Every donation will be essential to...
- Purchasing crafts materials so that our talented Art Department have the resources to construct the miniature UFO and forest setting
- Purchasing film stock ($1000 to purchase stock + $400 to process the film)
- Makeup and wardrobe expenses
- Hiring a beautiful, historical cinema location
- Crew catering

Donation Prizes
As our supporters, we would love for you to be involved in the filmmaking process as much as possible! We want to show our appreciation by giving all who donate a ‘special thanks’ in the credits, access to behind-the-scenes content, and the opportunity to be an extra in the film.
Thank you in advance for all of your support, not only towards young creatives, but towards the preservation of the fading art of practical effects! We will be so incredibly grateful for even the smallest of contributions :)
