16K's for Cancer ‍‍- Raising $$$ for the Stewart Siblings

Donation protected
Our uncle (Chris Stewart – aged 53) and aunt (Charmaine Stewart – aged 54) siblings, just ten months apart, BOTH have cancer and we want to help them get through some of the financial, mental and emotional strain they are feeling in the toughest period of their life.

About Chris' diagnosis. In December 2023, Chris had a pain in his right side and was admitted to hospital. In a huge shock to both the medical staff and our family, they discovered a large 10cm tumour in his liver, soon after diagnosing him with Cholangiocarcinoma, a very rare form of cancer that forms in the bile ducts. After a number of procedures and a long stay in hospital over the Christmas period, he has subsequently started aggressive chemo at the Mater Hospital with the hope to have major resection surgery in the coming months to hopefully remove the tumour. Chris has been unable to work to his full capacity during this time and of course this puts pressure on both Chris and his partner Rob.

About Charmaine’s diagnosis. In December 2023, following the health scare to Chris… Charmaine found a large lump to the left of her breast, essentially under her left arm. Soon after, she was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma (Diffuse Large B Cell). Charmaine recently started chemo at the PA Hospital. She has been unable to work since December, due to the awful side effects of her chemotherapy and this puts pressure on both Charmaine and her incredible partner Kristen.

Many of their friends and family have asked if they can help in any way and so we have come up with the magic number 16 – Charmaine’s birthday is the 9th of the month and Chris’ is the 7th.

So on the Sunday the 16th of June… us ‘the Stewart siblings’ - Jess and Connor - their only niece and nephew, are going to run 16 kilometres around Southbank and Brisbane City and would welcome any others to be involved, even if you just want to walk or run some of this distance.

We want to raise $1000 for every kilometre we run – with an aim to hit a grand total of $16,000!

Run to start from 9am, with a starting place TBC – a FB event can be found here.

We would welcome anyone to come and join us for a get together at ‘The Burrow’ in West End afterwards.

It is important for them both to have as much love and support around them, with the money raised to be shared between them both to hopefully help throughout this difficult time.
