16 Pubs. 1 Day. 1 Very Important Reason.

This year, I’m taking on a challenge that’s equal parts meaningful… and slightly mad.

My dad sadly passed away from prostate cancer, and he was a big fan of a good pub—especially the ones from Castle Rock Brewery. In fact, he’s the one who introduced me to Elsie Mo, which is still my all-time favourite (good taste clearly runs in the family ).

So, in his memory—and as close as possible to what would have been his birthday—I’m attempting to visit all 16 Castle Rock pubs in ONE DAY (yes, really… and no, the tenanted ones don’t count… sorry!).

Provisional date: Saturday 9th May 2026
Finish line: Bread and Bitter, Mapperley, Nottingham (his local )

How did this madness begin?

Blame a casual chat about their app… one of those “wouldn’t it be funny if…” ideas that quickly turned into “oh no… I’m actually going to do this.”

I even did a 4-hour test run and managed 8 pubs already, so this might just be possible (or at least entertaining to watch me try).

Bonus: there’s a Castle Rock t-shirt challenge involved too—so not only am I doing it for a great cause, but there’s also a gift at the end. Dad would definitely approve of that motivation.

Follow the chaos live

If I can get signal (and still see straight), I’ll be sharing updates along the way—expect photos, pub check-ins, and possibly questionable decision-making.

I might even sneak in a pub or two the day before… purely for “research purposes,” of course.

Why I’m doing this

I’m raising money for Prostate Cancer UK—a cause that means a huge amount to me and my family.

Right now, one man dies every hour in the UK from prostate cancer, and that number is only expected to rise. But with better research, earlier detection, and stronger support, that can change.

Want to help?

If you can, please donate—every penny really does make a difference.

And if you can’t donate, sharing this or cheering me on (preferably from a safe distance while I attempt pub number 14 ) is just as appreciated.

Here’s to Dad

Here’s to Elsie Mo

And here’s to hopefully making it to all 16 pubs… upright.
