14 Aberdeen Youth go to Greece for TED-ABE & PBE

I am the Pastor of the Aberdeen Seventh-day Adventist church. We have 14 Adventurers and Pathfinders from the Aberdeen Seventh-day Adventist Church who have taken up the challenge of the Adventurer-Pathfinder Bible Experience. We request your help to fund our travel to the final event which will take place in Athens, Greece on 15 April 2023. The Adventurers and Pathfinders will be accompanied by two adult coaches.

The ABE/PBE is a series of events that involves Adventurers and Pathfinders from around Europe in reading and studying the Bible. In 2023 the challenge has been to study the Gospel of John. In January four teams from our club passed a test on their knowledge of John in Aberdeen. In February two of our teams scored high enough marks in a Scotland-wide meet-up to travel to Leeds for an event that involved teams from the whole of the UK and Ireland.

In Leeds, our ABE and PBE teams both did brilliantly and they earned entry into the final event which will take place in Athens at Trans European Division level in April.

Getting to Greece is quite a big challenge for the 14 Pathfinders and 2 coaches. They are all prepared to sacrifice to go, but this is a project that is particularly stretching for our young people and their families. Some of the parents are full-time students with small incomes. And in some cases there is more than one member in each family who form part of the team, making it an exceptionally expensive project.

The Aberdeen Seventh-day Adventist church sees the value of this project. This is not merely a once-in-a-lifetime adventure for our young people, but it is an experience that immerses the young people in Scripture and a life of spiritual commitment. The church will also seek to provide some support. But even then, our resources are limited.

This is why we are asking you if you would be willing to invest in an unforgettable experience for these 14 young people. In reality, it will be a very valuable investment.

We are still working on the final plans. Some of our children need to apply for visas to travel to Greece. We estimate that flights, airport transfers, and self-catering accommodation will cost anything between £600 and £900 per person. This is why we are setting a goal of raising at least £400 per team member.

Please make a difference in the life of these Scottish Mission Pathfinders and consider donating.
