15k Tough Mudder for Children fighting Nueroblastoma
I am fundraising for Neuroblastoma, a charity that holds immense significance for me. Neuroblastoma is a very rare and aggressive childhood cancer that originates from immature nerve cells, typically affecting infants and young children, often starting in the adrenal glands or along the spinal cord. When I was just four years old and my brother was three, our family received the heartbreaking news
that my ten-month-old sister had been diagnosed with this devastating illness. Doctors informed my parents that Charlotte had a tumor the size of a melon in her abdomen and another on her spine, which led to scoliosis, which then required five major surgeries. Remarkably, Charlotte underwent a bone marrow transplant, which provided her with a fighting chance for survival. She underwent Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy which meant the very beautiful locks Charlotte had ,vanished before our eyes! Despite devastating predictions from doctors about her future, including being told that her ability to walk, talk, or have children wouldn’t ever happen, Charlotte has defied the odds. Charlotte spent most of her childhood in hospital, but today, she is thriving at nearly 30, working three days a week and raising three beautiful children in her family home with her partner ! Her journey has profoundly shaped my perspective on life, emphasising the importance of living fully and cherishing every single moment with those that matter the most. To support this cause and help other children facing similar battles, myself and my boyfriend Charlie will be participating in Tough Mudder 15k, with 20 mentally and physically challenging obstacles. Any donations, no matter the amount, would mean the world to me. I have included some photos of Charlotte from her younger years to illustrate her incredible journey. Thank you so much for your support! In the photos - Myself (Fran) my brother John and my mum and Dad!
