Back in 2024 I participated in a 10k race, having never run before to raise money for the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund (CHSF). By doing this I managed to raise just over £1,000! This time round I’ve decided I want to go bigger and better in 2026 and in summer, I’ll be taking on a challenge that seriously terrifies the life out of me but excites me in equal measure…I’ll be jumping out of a plane at 15,000ft.
Many of you know why this charity means so much to me, but for those who don’t — here’s my “why”.
When my daughter was one year old, she was diagnosed with pulmonary valve stenosis — a congenital heart condition that affects blood flow from the heart to the lungs. Although she’s doing well, she still needs regular scans and monitoring to keep track of how things are progressing. The Children’s Heart Surgery Fund is a regional charity that supports infants, children, and adults living with congenital heart disease across Yorkshire, the Humber, and North Lincolnshire. The funds go towards life saving medical equipment, specialist staff roles, family accommodation, ward resources, and support services for patients treated at the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit. CHSF is entirely funded by donations and supports over 17,000 people with congenital heart disease each year, ensuring families receive both medical and emotional support treatment.
My goal is to beat my previous fundraising total and raise even more for CHSF so they can continue supporting children, parents, and the incredible teams who care for them – But to do this I need your support…
If you’re able to donate, even the smallest amount will help make a difference. And if you can’t donate, sharing my fundraising page with friends, family & colleagues would mean the world. I’ll be sharing updates as the jump approaches this summer — including the moment I finally get on that plane!
Thank you so much for your support, kindness, and encouragement.
