My name is Beckah, I am 15 and a senior in high school. I currently attend Arizona Agribusiness and Equine center in Prescott Valley, Arizona. For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be a pilot. I also knew I wanted to go to Embry Riddle since I was about seven. I never had a ton of money, but I was always well taken care of by my mom. I knew getting into Embry Riddle was going to be hard, but I knew the financial side of it would be ever harder. I challenge myself to be the best I can be, and I was accepted into Embry Riddle.
My aspirations to be a pilot started when I was about 6. My father passed away from stage four melanoma when I was 2 weeks from turning 6. It was devastating of course, but it helped me realize who and what I wanted to be! I thought, in my young mind, that if I flew a plane high enough, I could get to heaven to see my dad. Ever since then, I have been fascinated with how a plane flys, flying the plane and all things aeronautical. The first time I flew a plane I was nine years old. I knew from that moment that I would be a pilot someday. I see famous men pilots all the time, but there are few women pilots that are ever heard of. I want to become one of the female pilots people will come to know. I joined a local glider club for a while, and anytime I got in the plane I would feel like it was where I belonged. I have had many flights in gliders, and a few times in a motorized plane. I know that is where I belong, in the cockpit of a plane.
My ambitions in aviation are captivated by the magnetic attraction of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. My academic goals are guided by its distinguished reputation as a worldwide leader in aerospace education. Embry-Riddle offers a special combination of state-of-the-art technology, renowned instructors, and practical experiences that foster the development of not just knowledge but also a deep understanding of the aerospace industry. An exciting spark for my path is the idea of immersing myself in a community where creativity takes off. More than just a facility, Embry-Riddle offers a doorway to my goals of becoming a pilot in the unending skies of aviation greatness.
I was accepted into Embry Riddle in the middle of November, and I have been ecstatic. I always knew I wanted to go, but I was always so scared I wouldn’t get in. I always had support from friends, teachers, and family, but I was still terrified I wouldn’t make it. I made it into my dream college, and now I’m stuck because I know how expensive it is to attend. I know going to this college is gonna be one of the most expensive things I will ever do, but I need help. I have applied for tons of scholarships, and I will continue to. I have made it to my dream school, and I don’t want to be stuck in debt forever because of where I go to college. Receiving any grants, scholarships, or donations would not only help me achieve my dream of being a pilot, but create a lasting legacy for all women everywhere especially in aeronautics and higher learning. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
